Valter Lopes
Valter Lopes holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Structures from the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP).
He is co-founder and Head of the Design Department at NCREP.
Since 2005, he has been professionally active in the field of built heritage conservation, having participated in numerous projects and studies involving structural survey, structural analysis, and the design of conservation and strengthening solutions for existing constructions. Notable interventions include the Igreja de São Francisco, the Livraria Lello, the Real Vinícola – Casa da Arquitectura, the Conservatório de Música de Aveiro, and a wide range of Port wine warehouses and industrial chimneys.
He is a senior member of the Portuguese Association of Engineers. He is also active in professional training, serving as a trainer for the Portuguese Association of Engineers and the Portuguese Association of Architects. In the associative field, he is a founding partner of the Portuguese Association of Urban Rehabilitation and Heritage Protection (APRUPP).
He has published several articles in national and international conference proceedings and journals, focusing on inspection, diagnosis, and structural rehabilitation and strengthening of historic buildings, particularly masonry and reinforced concrete structures. He has co-supervised Integrated Master’s theses in Civil Engineering at FEUP in the field of structural rehabilitation of existing buildings and has also served as a guest lecturer at the University of Aveiro.
