Technical training sessions at the Order of Engineers and Architects
NCREP. Engineering that is taught, shared and built together.
NCREP was born in academia, and has never left it.
The connection to research, teaching and critical reflection on existing structures has been part of NCREP’s identity from the very beginning. We believe that better intervention in the built heritage starts long before construction begins: it starts with knowledge, training and the sharing of experience with the technical community.
It is in this spirit that NCREP develops and delivers specialised training programmes in the fields of assessment, rehabilitation and strengthening of existing structures, aimed at engineers, architects and technicians working in both ordinary buildings and historic heritage.
Over recent years, NCREP has organised and taught training courses in collaboration with professional bodies, maintaining a regular presence as a guest lecturer for the Institution of Engineers and the Order of Architects. These training programmes address key topics in contemporary professional practice, including:
- Seismic vulnerability of masonry structures: assessment and strengthening design
- Rehabilitation of masonry structures
- Rehabilitation of timber structures
- Seismic rehabilitation and strengthening of historic buildings
- Rehabilitation of reinforced concrete and steel structures
- Structural rehabilitation of ordinary historic buildings

More than simply delivering content, these initiatives reflect the way NCREP works: with a strong scientific foundation, a direct link to professional practice, and a focus on responsible decision-making in technically complex contexts.
We believe that knowledge only creates real impact when it is shared.
And that the quality of intervention in the built environment begins with the quality of training of those who intervene.
